Avril is a very talented young singer from Napanee, Ontario who at 17 made it very big -very fast on the world teenage "punk rock" scene. She has her own unique and refreshing style, can sing, act, play the guitar, the piano and write songs and music and even dance! Even more important is that she can also play hockey!
Unlike many of her contemporaries she performs with most of her clothes on. Pretty smart and talented eh! Well -enter the Bullshit artists. On her latest hit "Girl Friend" (which is the worlds most viewed video on YouTube - check it out it is coming up on 124,000,000 views) some groups came out from under the rocks and claimed she had copied their song! Unbelievable. And then because bad news sells papers and attracts readers the media jumped on the bandwagon. Unbelievable again. The bottom line here is that our young lady from Napanee with the raccoon eyes is just very talented and perhaps that is why so many people have bought her records. Her latest album is "The Best Damn Thing" with several hits on it and several excellent videos supporting them.
Kids all over the world are also having a great time doing "girlfriend" parodies and spoofs on YouTube. Avril has managed to hit a chord there and she has entertained millions of people on the planet -even people normally outside the pop rock market and they all know she is from Canada!. Others say they positively hate her and her singing and everything about her! I suspect one reason for this is jealously as Avril has made her first million (without a higher education or rich relatives) way before she was 20 and they are still stuck in the first steps of their careers. Rock on Avril! The little twerp is laughing at everyone because she made it! Over 35 million album sales and counting! Ha!
Avril continues to change styles as she matures and has recently married. Check out "HOT" on youtube. Then compare that style with WHEN YOU ARE GONE . Avril has huge talent! Its nice to see Canadians on the planet's "A list" and Avril is up there with Shania Twain showing the world that Canuck girls are the "best damn thing!" So the bullshit here is basically how some people react to other people who have experienced some success in their lives. There seems to be a built in need or resentment or envy or whatever to bring them down to their levels. It's interesting because we will see it again and again as we journey thru our allotted spins around the sun. I think its bullshit!
What's wrong with acknowledging a person's success be they a pop singer, executive, President or Prime Minister, family member, friend or just buddy down the street who won on the lotto or sold his soul to finance a shiny new car. Good things do happen -deal with it! Having millions of fans around the planet, selling 35 million records and maintaining your own style sounds like success to me especially when you are under 23! Well done Avril!!
Holy Crap! Avril made 12 million dollars in 2007. Yikes! Yes I would say she is pretty talented eh! Not bad for the little hockey player from Napanee!
