I must receive forty or fifty requests each week asking me what I think of Bloggers and which ones I would recommend.
I think bloggers are idiots and I think people who follow blogs are stupid idiots.
This usually results in silence or a response with potty talk in it which I won't repeat here because we just don't do that here. We have a rule against it! We have our standards. But some determined folks will actually ask me why I think that way. So I tell them.
A blogger (and nearly every webmaster except me) is operating under the faulty premise that anything he or she writes is something that everyone else would be interested in. Unfortunately they are wrong and only really stupid people bother to read what they have written Now these people are really stupid because they feel that they should read what the blogger has to say just in case he or she says something useful. Of course they never do but the really stupids continue on reading just in case. I am sure my research into the percentage of stupid people in Canada that I completed will be of great use to you in understanding this point.
In 2006 the number of blogs was estimated at over 50 million with about 200,000 new ones every day. Think about that. Let the full significance of those numbers sink in so to speak. Now realizing that they are all stupid this gives us a good indicator of how many stupid people are on the Internet. There are at least 50 million of them.
Now think of the billions of dollars in lost time and production associated with blogging and reading bloggers stupid rants. And nearly all the time they are blogging about news that has already been released in the media. They are simply recycling news and placing their opinions on it to which others add their opinions to. It is unbelievable.
What can we do about it? When somebody mentions a blog to you say the following to them as quickly as possible:
"You're kidding right? You actually read that stuff"
"Don't you have a life? Have you forgotten how to have fun?"
That should shut them up pretty quick. Its best done in a group so that the others can pile on too. They might never talk to you again but so what.
I have had bloggers contact me and try to get into a debate about blogging. I tell them to go away. But some are very persistent. Especially for some strange reason the women. Apparently they don't understand "no" and "go away".
Now at this point you might be wondering if this is all bullshit or not? Am I being truthful to you or just kidding?
In fact I am just kidding. Blogging is a great idea! Its fun and a good way to learn things and meet people. That's why there are so many blogs! These on-line streams of consciousness will exploit the medium in a positive way much like the ideas of Marshall McLuan and his " the medium is the message." People aren't stupid -most of them are pretty smart at least 70-75% of them. And most of the people blogging are not members of the stupid group -the 25% or so of the population that will always be like they are and they will post things like the first nine paragraphs above! Above all the format allows the sharing of information of the more formal media releases which are subject to advertisers editors, political correctness and other factors which all tend to remove portions of the truth.
So find yourself a good blog and start reading it. Its much better than TV and watching ad after ad for depends, false teeth cement, toothpaste and soap. The following links will help you find some good ones!
