DRUG ADDICTS IN CANADA
I debated to include drug use on this website or to ignore the issue. Then I read about how Victoria is now using taxpayers money to issue free crack cocaine pipes to addicts. I looked into it a bit deeper and discovered there were over 4000 intravenous drug users on Vancouver Island alone with half of them residing in the Victoria area. Drug use is increasing every year. You guessed it -the bullshit alarm just went off!
What is the problem here? Lets look at some of the numbers to find out. First here is the government response to improving the situation:
- A one-year mandatory prison sentence will be imposed for dealing drugs such as marijuana when carried out for organized crime purposes, or when a weapon or violence is involved;
- A two-year mandatory prison sentence will be imposed for dealing drugs such as cocaine, heroin or methamphetamines to youth, or for dealing those drugs near a school or an area normally frequented by youth;
- A two-year mandatory prison sentence will be imposed for the offence of running a large marijuana grow operation of at least 500 plants;
- The maximum penalty for cannabis production would increase from 7 to 14 years imprisonment; and
- Tougher penalties will be introduced for trafficking GHB and flunitrazepam (most commonly known as date-rape drugs).
I am looking at the penalties and wondering what on earth is going on here! THESE are the new tougher penalties???? Dealing cocaine to youth only gets two years!!! Excuse me! And the Liberal party actually feels that the government is being too tough that we should go lighter on drug users and sellers. Unbelievable.
Why not something like this:
- A ten-year mandatory prison sentence will be imposed for dealing drugs such as marijuana when carried out for organized crime purposes, or when a weapon or violence is involved;
- A twenty year mandatory prison sentence will be imposed for dealing drugs such as cocaine, heroin or methamphetamines to youth, or for dealing those drugs near a school or an area normally frequented by youth or to anyone who subsequently dies as a direct result of taking the drugs supplied by the person;
- A ten-year mandatory prison sentence will be imposed for the offence of running a large marijuana grow operation of at least 100 plants;
- The maximum penalty for cannabis production would increase from 7 to 20 years imprisonment; and
- Ten year penalties will be introduced for trafficking GHB and flunitrazepam (most commonly known as date-rape drugs).
- ten year mandatory penalties to be introduced for anyone who brings drugs into a jail
- twenty five year mandatory sentence for all drug lords ie folks who import or export large quantities of drugs
Further all penalties will NOT allow reduced time for good behavior. All jail time will be in a drug free environment with all inmates required to put in an eight hour day of labour. They will be paid the minimum wage and all costs associated with their jail time will be deducted from the wage with the exception of ten cents an hour which will be paid to them.
and
Northern Detoxification Centres will be set up in the the northern regions of each province where individuals suffering from all regions of the province who suffer from drug dependencies will be sent for six month periods to detoxify. The centres will be operated on a military camp basis and individuals will be required to have military style haircuts, wash daily and maintain good levels of physical fitness. They will dress in a military style work dress.Ex military staff will be hired to run the institutions. While in these institutions the individuals will learn trades or other life skills useful in the workplace. The objective of the institutions will be to detoxify individuals, bring them back to a good state of mental and physical health and fitness and give them a useable skill that they can re-enter the job market with.
That will pretty much solve the drug problem. We will require a few extra jails and some investment in the northern detox institutions but that cost will be significantly less that the cost to society for the problems associated with drugs now.
Will it ever be done? Absolutely not! Why? Because its all bullshit! There is absolutely no real interest in solving the drug problem in Canada. Too many people - police, social workers, government workers, various suppliers, lawyers, court workers etc etc are making a good living off it as it is now. Its a multi billion dollar industry. Look at British Columbia. The largest cash crop in BC is BC Bud. The supply has grown every year for the last twenty years. There are some very big dollars in drugs and too many people in Canada are sharing it. It will only get worse. The media is controlled. Some police and courts are bought off. The public couldn't care less. One need not look too far past the Robert Picton trial to see how Canada treats its citizens with drug dependency problems. I rest my case. So what do you do -when you live in a shoe?
I feel really bad about the drug trade in Canada and it's numerous victims. These people are human beings and fellow Canadians and we treat them like crap. They obviously have problems and this is where our society can step in and intervene. Better that than let them kill themselves and others while existing in a horrible life on the streets. Instead we offer them free crack pipes, legal aid and a needle exchange! What sort of bullshit is that! Can Canada solve the drug problem. Yes it can. But does it want to?
One thing the drug addicts may not understand is that some of the drugs they purchase on the street are derivatives of opium grown in Afghanistan and the opium trade provides funding to the Taliban. The Taliban then use money from opium sales to purchase weapons and IEDs to kill Canadian and NATO troops. So by buying and using these drugs from money raised by stealing from your neighbors you are very effectively killing fellow Canadians - kids you may have grown up with - brave soldiers that are fighting for Canada while your life wallows in the gutter. Buck up and get off drugs! You can do it -so do it.
A little known fact in Canada is that Victoria BC has a horrible little secret about drug deaths. They occur but don't get reported in the press. The Johnson Street Bridge in the Inner Harbour is an area where several drug related deaths have occurred. These Canadians are being treated like disposable people. Human trash. Yet they are someone's kids and parents, they were once toddlers and looking forward to going to kindergarten. They squealed with glee at Christmas looking at their presents. They once had a life and ended up on a slab because of drugs and nobody is there to help. The last damn thing they need is a free crack pipe or free needles to inject drugs!
Its all bullshit!
18/08/2008 Update
The Corporate Secretary made a suggestion to me. Now I didn't get to where I am today by not implementing good ideas and Marcie has a good idea.
Canadian Cold Turkey Day -Kick Drugs out of Canada
Once a year there is massive advertising on radio, TV and the Internet. On that day the idea is that NOBODY buys ANY drugs, reports drug dealers to the police via phone and internet, and on that day ANYONE applying for a drug detox position gets on. Period. This is a multi-million dollar plan that would require all provinces and all levels of government to work together.
We could pick on a particularly sad example of a young female and male person dying from drug use and name the day after them. ie "Christine's and Roberts Day" and their pictures and stories should be part of the day. The individuals would change each year.
Would it work? Yes it would! Lets do it!! Write your MP, Chief of Police and the RCMP. Get involved. Before your kid goes on drugs and kills themselves. Canada is too good a country to suffer from this horrible problem. People need help and Canadians don't just sit back and do nothing when people need help!

Addiction-Tips.com After completing this page we were very interested in helping out people with addiction problems be it drugs, alcohol, shopping, food, gambling or even internet addiction. So we purchased an entire website with great information and links to provide you with greater detail than we can provide here. Good Luck! You can do it! I did it with food and alcohol and if I can you can too!
RCMP Drug Enforcement Turn in your local pusher. Don't let them poison or kill your friends and family. Nobody needs to know except you and the Mounties. The higher up the food chain the better because the more damage they do.
