A pink T shirt on a girl is nothing out of the ordinary but for a few reasons when a boy wears a pink T shirt it causes some to react- badly. That happened in a Halifax, Nova Scotia high school when a freshman wore a pink t shirt and was threatened by a group of several school bullies saying that he was gay. Not a good start to high school. (probably not a great idea to wear pink either but I digress)
So a couple of grade 12 students David Sheperd and Travis Price decided they would do something about it, Off they went and bought 75 pink tank tops and some pink material for arm bands and handed them out for free to other boys on Friday. They made sure the bullies wore them too.
What David and Travis did was stand up and reject the bullshit. They did something that people will remember for years and they learned something about human nature and the ability of people to change the status qou, The media got wind of the story and its likely the kind act will pay dividends too but again lets keep to the story here!
As far as pink and gays most of us know people who are gay and many people have a friend or family member of that persuasion. Big deal. Good for David and Travis!
